iTunes is undoubtedly the most popular software to listen to music, create and manage playlists, tag music for easier navigation and exporting music into iPods and iPhones. Spotify, on the other hand, is an increasingly popular software to listen to music and gives you access to millions of songs legally. For people who use both these platforms, it is pretty hard to manage their playlists at two different places separately. Listify solves this problem easily.

It is a simple web app that lets sync iTunes playlists with Spotify. To start, simply go to your iTunes software, export your playlist as plain text and upload it onto Listify. Once you click submit, Listify will find those songs for you in Spotify and let you create a playlist in Spotify by copy-pasting the entries. It is a great app to sync your iTunes library with your Spotify library.

I have to admit, Vattoz is now my #1 choice for listening to music online. It is a dead simple music search engine with a playlist support. It searches for songs based on artist name or the song name and displays the results in a clean interface where you have two options – play the song or add to playlist.

The playlist is a box which could be dragged and dropped anywhere on the web page and maintains the list of your favorite songs and plays them. The site uses cookies to remember your playlist. You can also share your playlist with friends.

What really attracted me towards this site is its simplicity and the fact that you can search for almost any song on earth irrespective of the language or genre. I am not sure what’s the source of its search results and you may find some of them inaccurate. But since it usually displays at least 5-6 results for a particular query, one of the results is an accurate one.

Overall, a really cool tool for music lovers which provides a quick way to listen to your favorite song anywhere in the world.

I’ve just confronted an interesting web-based music service that claims to provide you with free and legal music streaming online. Tunerec acts as a platform for music where you can create your own music library with millions of available tracks.

To get started, simply visit Tunerec and sign up for a free account. It is in private beta but you get your account straight away. As soon as you’re logged in, you will be able to record music from thousands of radio stations to your playlist. You can then access your playlist from anywhere anytime you like. Note that it has to record the streams first, so it may take some time to save them in your database and become accessible to you initially.

You can find and discover artists, tracks and genres from 20 different categories including rock, metal, punk, pop and more. Easily organize your tracks and share them with your friends or invite them so that you can subscribe to their playlist and share tracks amongst yourselves.

Why is it legal?

According to a Swedish newspaper, Tunerec has signed an agreement with STIM (Swedish songwriters association). It makes sure that the musicians get paid for every song that is being played on this service. Currently, Tunerec is being monetized through adverting but they are planning to introduce a paid version which will come without advertising.
