Everyone’s Mixtape is a web app that lets you easily create virtual mixtapes for friends. When you visit the website you will find a few lists already created. You can begin creating your own list after you sign in with your Facebook or Google account. Once you are signed in you can create virtual mixtapes by importing songs from YouTube, SoundCloud, and Vimeo after executing a search from within the Everyone’s Mixtape site. When you have formed your mixtape, you can get a sharing link for it or embed it on your site or blog.

If you have ever wanted your Tumblr readers to listen to the songs you want them to listen, or if you just want to lighten up the atmosphere there, then try out the Tumblr Music Player.

The Tumblr Music Player is a tool that allows users to put a music player on their Tumblr or Blogger blog, which then allows the reader to listen to a list of songs you have chosen either from your music library or YouTube. Of course, the readers can turn the music off if they wish.

Using the service is very easy. For the first step, the user is required to choose the skin/theme of the music player, which they will use on their Tumblr. For the second step, the users are required to write the song title and give a link to the song (even YouTube videos work). The third is just some configuration settings.

Once you click Done, you will be provided with a code that you can insert into the Tumblr theme template.

Mielophone: Free Music Streaming To Your Desktop

Mielophone is a music stream app for Adobe Air. While we agree that there are no shortage of music players for the desktop, Mielophone brings some nice stuff to the table by allowing you to stream music for free, purchase music from alternative stores, and get information on songs, bands, and artists.

From Mielophone’s minimalist, tiled home screen, you can view artists, songs, and albums. The app uses various music databases to present song information like Last.FM, BBC Radio, and MusicBrainz. Selecting an artist will bring up the information plus the list of songs. The app will find a public stream of the song online. From my tests, the songs will take some time to load, but it works exceptionally well as a free music streamer. You can also play songs by tags and mood.

The music player features include the usual add to playlist, shuffle, repeat and radio. You can also download different plugins like Soundcloud MP3 Search, Zmusic MP3 Search, and more.

Mielophone is a great tool for anyone who needs a quick app to stream music to their desktop for free.

Enqueue: An Elegant Playlist Manager [OSX]

While there are several music players available in Windows, it is rare to find a great alternative for iTunes on the Mac. In order to be a good candidate to replace your iTunes, it should do some things better than iTunes, such as being quick, light, and no-nonsense. Enqueue is a free music player for OSX that is up to the task. With its powerful playlist manager, this lightweight app is a great secondary program for playing your local library on your desktop.

While it does not have a music store, or a way to sync to your iOS devices, the one good thing that Enqueue does not have compared to iTunes is bloat. In addition, it supports several audio files that iTunes does not like such as FLAC and OGG. The sleek interface also includes an equalizer, library views, scrobbling with Last.fm, and a data bar graph of your top artists and songs.

So if you need a complete audio player without the excessiveness of iTunes, then this app is a nice companion for your desktop.

Rokker: The Only Online Music Player You Need

Taking your favorite songs wherever you go is not easy. A far more convenient option is online media players. One of the best online media players currently out there is called Rokker.

Rokker is a free to use online media player that works best with either Safari or Google Chrome. It is best to first register with Rokker before you start using it, although registration is required only to create and save playlists. When you have accessed the player, you can type in the name of an artist or song and search results from YouTube will show up with the official song video, wherever available. Click on a song and its video will begin playing in the bottom right hand corner.

You can set the video to repeat or maximize it to occupy the entire center pane. Amazon links for purchasing music are also given to the user. The player even lets you maintain an online music library by adding songs you play to the library or saving songs in your created playlists.
