Are you a big fan of food trucks? Did you know that you can easily find food trucks at your location using your Android phone, via their Twitter feeds? Food Truck Finder (FTF) is an Android app that aggregates Twitter feeds of different food trucks in your city. This way, you can easily contact these food trucks and know exactly where you can get your next gourmet food truck meal fix.

The first time you sign into the app, you will be asked to indicate your city location which you can change afterwards. FTF currently supports 34 US cities, with more being listed due to user requests. With FTF, you can easily follow, via Twitter, the different food trucks within the location that you chose. You may even search the Twitter feed for a particular location or food truck which can be very useful if you are looking for something very specific.

Users can also purchase the ad-free Food Truck Follower Pro. Although it doesn’t offer new features; it does however help in the development of the app so it is a great way to support the developer.

Finding online content that is relevant to our location is an area that numerous search engines are exploring. But users cannot fully rely on search engine results as they might be biased. HP might have come up with a solution with their latest experiment, Gloe.

Gloe is an experimental, user contributed search engine that lets you find online content relevant to our location. You can enter your location in the field provided and a list of all relevant websites will be shown, according to your selected search parameters. These parameters include the type of website (photos, restaurants, places, etc.), the radius of the search (in miles), and the number of sites we want to view. Each result is accompanied with the number of views and votes it has received (through Gloe).

Currently an experiment, Gloe aims to provide a platform for location-based discovery of information for mobile Web users, a rapidly growing audience.

If you love reading local news, but absolutely hate how the website of your local newspaper is laid out, Fwix is a local news aggregator that certainly worth checking out. This service seeks out news sources in your city and aggregates the biggest stories on a clean homepage that includes your local weather.

Fwix goes beyond aggregation, however; you can comment on any story directly through Fwix, thanks to a frame around the article. This is a great way to comment on articles for newspapers that don’t include comment functions, or to bypass any rules and regulations your local newspaper might have in terms of commenting. Every article linked to on Fwix also includes a quick survey regarding the article at the top of the article. This helps create a community that stretches beyond any one news source.

The service doesn’t cover the entire world, though it does cover most major cities in the USA as well as a few in Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland (although the latter only includes Dublin.) American cities are overwhelmingly favored at the moment: my home city of 100,000 people is included (Boulder, Colorado) but international users in towns and cities of similar sizes are for the most part left out.

Features

Aggregates local news in hundreds of cities; mostly in America, but also in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Great Britain.

Answer simple polls or leave comments untouchable by the given media organization.

Similar website: Everyblock.

eBay is still one of the best sites for eCommerce but the fact that your seller is located half way across the world makes some people a little uncomfortable. Flippity helps users by filtering eBay for local results. Just enter the name of the item you are looking for and your zip code.

Results will then display eBay listings in your neighborhood sorted by distance. Bringing your mouse over any listing will show you more details and clicking on it will take you to the actual eBay page. You can also sort your results by date or price and narrow them down by entering a minimum or maximum price. Location of each seller is also displayed on a Google map to give you a better idea about the proximity.
