If you like shuffling through your browsing history, you’d be surprised just how stale Google Chrome’s history page looks. Sure, you can search through your history and view the listed websites sorted by date, but it is not enough to call it a polished feature of an otherwise awesome browser. Fortunately, there is an extension for it. Enhanced History is one such extension that modifies the default history page to make it more useful, easily readable, and searchable.

Enhanced History shows a list of websites you have visited, the numbers of times you have visited the URL, and the record of your last visit. You can also filter through your list by using search terms and by setting the date range – handy if you want to go back to a website you read from two weeks ago, but can’t exactly remember what it is. Enhanced History also lets you delete all history or your history from a range of dates.

Enhanced History is a good add-on for keeping track of stuff you visited. It has made my browser much more useful since now I can trace back articles and tools that I liked but forgot to bookmark.

Features:

Provides a better history page for Google Chrome.

Search by date range.

Filter by keyword and date range.

View most visited URLS.

Quick link to delete browser history.

Similar Tools: History Calendar, Decreased Productivity, and HistoryTree.

One very useful feature of Mozilla Firefox is private browsing. People prefer to use it when they don’t want to leave any trace of websites they visit. However, if you browse the Internet you will find certain tools and addons available which can retrieve the webpages visited with private browsing enabled.

So a better option would be to disable the history completely for a certain time period. To do that, you should check a useful addon named History Disable button.

Once installed, the addon adds a disable history button in the Firefox bar. Clicking on the button will activate or deactivate the addon. When active, it disables the history including the address bar auto-complete feature to improve privacy. This is important if you are using a shared computer and you don’t want other users to see webpages you have visited.

Features

Simple and easy to use.

Disable history feature and address bar auto complete.

Enable/disable addon with a single click.

The online marvels that are Facebook and Twitter have brought two revolutionary ideas into our 21st century. First, they allowed us to communicate and share sutff like never before; and secondly, they help curate our life histories online. ArchivedBook is a cool app that scans your Facebook’s profile history and presents all of them on one single page.

ArchivedBook works through the Facebook API to display your wall messages, status updates, media you may have been included in, links you posted, your comments, and more. It does so in a somewhat cheesy, yet nostalgic design akin to an old book. ArchivedBook strips out the unnecessary elements in your profile and presents only a clean version, allowing you to breeze through your history.

Using the service I was able to pick up photos and messages from three years ago that I had already forgotten. You can also view the history of your friends without them having to sign up to the service.

ArchivedBook will be become even more useful as the years go by. If you want the feeling of social network nostalgia, this app will do its part.

Features:

View all your recorded posts, statuses, and media in Facebook.

View your friends’ histories.

Clean, minimal interface lets your zoom through the past.

Sort updates and posts by date.

If you are an art enthusiast and wish that you could attend all the major museums in the world (but know that it might not be possible), then you will love Google’s new offering: Art Project. Google has collaborated with 17 art museums around the world, which include big names like The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery (London) and Palace of Versailles, to produce a cool site that lets you navigate through super high resolution images of the artworks in these museums. It uses Google’s Street View ‘indoor’ technology and also offers a 360 degree view of the museum indoors apart from a peek into their artworks.

The site, like many other such Google projects, was started as a part of the 20% time that Google gives to their engineers to work on creative stuff. You can also sign in and create a personalized collection of your favorite artworks.

Watch demo video:

I’m a big fan of history. A lot of my ‘online time’ is spent reading archaeological articles and the latest discoveries in the field. Today I’ve got a great educational website for History to share with you all: the site is the History Channel’s own History.com.

History.com, with its fitting name, is the perfect online spot for history lovers. On the site you will find the historical importance of today, articles on the latest archaeological breakthroughs, videos of interest, and even online games that are related to history. A slideshow on the homepage showcases the features content in a jiffy; from the slideshow I learned that Egypt might have had a female pharaoh at some point in time!

The site also contains the programming schedule for The History Chanel.
