Products expiring unnoticed until it’s too late is a problem faced by many companies and individuals which can be solved by using ExpireTrack. ExpireTrack is a free and easy to use expiration date tracker which is based online.

After registration, you’re simply asked for basic information about the product such as a description and of course an expiry date. The tool also helps you with locating the product when it needs to be found before it expires by asking for location of the product as seen in the ‘Ad Product’ screenshot. Once a product has been posted it can be edited from the inventory screen to reflect sales or further purchases of the product.

E-mail notifications are sent out to you by the ExpireTrack when one of your products is nearing its expiry date. All of the information you entered above will be displayed in the e-mail so you can get to the product easily.

This tool could also be utilized on a personal level to remind you of overdue insurance bills, warranty expiration of electronic gadgets, magazine subscriptions and such other reoccurring events which we all must keep track of.

Main features:

Reminds you when products are about to expire by e-mail.

Easy-to-use interface.

You can print the inventory easily from the website.

You can also save it onto your PC as an .xls file.

Similar tool: WarrantyElephant.

MyThings could turn out to be an extremely useful website especially for those who regularly shop for gadgets and other electronic items online. It lets you track the purchases and organize receipts so that you can easily create a list of products you own. And once you’ve got them organized, you can access things like free product user manuals, customer reviews, deals, warranty information and product support information.

The screenshot below illustrates how it works. You can either forward the receipts by email to receipts@mythings.com or enter them manually.

The site has a clean user interface and provides many other features apart from product receipt organization. You could also get warranty and product recall alerts. If you find yourself using the site everyday then you may download the MyThings toolbar or the various widgets it provides from startpages like Netvibes and iGoogle.

allCamReviews is a free web service built on Google’s Custom Search that can help you search for digital camera and camera accessories reviews on the web. Picture this, when you search Google for any digital camera review, it throws up thousands of results. But not all of them are exact reviews of the kind you are looking for. Some of them are plain news items announcing the arrival of a particular camera; some are just a question posted on some forum about the camera and so on.

To go through a few good quality reviews you may have to browse through 4-5 search result pages. AllCamReviews.com limits its custom search to a number of quality review websites which provides the bulk of the quality reviews on the web. Not only it makes finding quality revies easy but also saves you a lot of time.

It also features a ‘Social Media Search’ which searches social media websites (like blogs, social bookmarking site etc) for your search query. So even after going through several reviews for the camera you can use this search to know what blogs and social media users say about it.

Kallow was started by two individuals – Jordan and Caleb and it certainly makes shopping for electronic goods easier by making a single recommendation for each product category. They do the cumbersome task of researching products, comparing each model, balancing performance, ease of use and the price. And finally, a single product is recommended with their thoughts and a buy link to Amazon.

As you see, the user interface is very simple and it divides electronic products in different categories of audio, home entertainment, computing etc. So if you are looking to save maximum time while shopping for electronic products, this site is definitely for you.

Shopnics is a visual shopping site with a difference. It concentrates on price comparison more than anything else and provides you with a detailed price comparison charts making it easy to compare gadget prices by brand or the availability of certain features.

It also offers various other options to refine the graph depending on the type and the feature of the product chosen.

As you can see above, after you click on an individual product, it gives a store wise price comparison list which in my opinion is pretty cool and could save a lot of time while shopping online. Overall, it does a good bit to differentiate itself from the various shopping comparison sites which have sprung up recently.

Spectackler is a neat web app that tries to help you with the buying decision for electronic products. It lets you find the exact product you’re looking for by letting you search for electronics and gadgets and then easily compare them side-by-side.

The site pulls all of the information from the Amazon product database. You are able to search for products by name, browse them by category such as accessories, audio & video, camera & photo, computers and so on.

Once you have the results in front of you simply star the items you like to compare them side-by-side.

Moreover, use the slider controls to filter the items further. You can set preferences for features like product rating, price, brand, warranty…. etc. The Spectackler simultaneously adjusts the results to your settings. There are also a wide range of sorting options, see below.

Specktackler comparison feature makes it easy to find out which product is best for you.

Overall Spectacler is a good tool to search for electronic products and gadgets and it is certainly better than Amazon’s default search engine. My only complaint is that sometimes when there is not enough of data for the product on Amazon comparisons are rather limited.

Features:

Compare consumer electronic products side-by-side.

Search product items by name or browse by category.

Refine results by product rating, price, brand, warranty…. etc.

No registration needed.

See Specktackler demo video:

Did you ever try changing settings on some gadget but couldn’t do it because it required some password you had never set up. That’s exactly what CIRT.net can help you with.

If you ever need a default password for a system or software try searching for it on CIRT. It can be a username and password for your linksys or netgear router, mobile phone, PC or laptop BIOS, printer etc.

The site lists over 1700 passwords for products from nearly 400 manufacturers. If you can’t find the password here I’d recommend calling the tech support.

Gazelle is not the first company that offers to buy your electronics. Some of the other similar websites include Venjuvo, SecondRotation, SellMyOldCellPhone and BuyMyTronics. More or less all of them do the same thing, though the prices may vary. However no matter which one you choose you’re still likely to get a better deal than on sites like eBay. We have actually compared a couple of them with eBay here.

Go to Gazelle @ www.gazelle.com (via TechCrunch)

If you’re a gadget freak you will probably agree that no matter what you buy, in 5-6 months time there is already a newer model. It has more storage capacity, better graphics or simply got a nicer look. Whether it’s an iPod, iPhone, PS gaming console, HDTV or a laptop, the story is always the same. And you can’t buy the new gadget because you already spent too much money on your last one.

So what do you do? Enter Venjuvo – the website where you can sell your old or even broken gadgets for a decent price. Sell used smart phones, gaming consoles, MP3 players, laptops, GPS systems, digital cameras, digital camcorders and HDTVs.

Here is how it works ?

(1) Select the item you want to sell (MP3 Player, HDTV, Notebook etc.) and then locate the exact product brand and model (Wii, iPod 4th Gen, iPhone 8GB etc.).

(2) Find out how much Venjuvo will pay you by providing some information about its condition and included accessories (cables, box, manuals and so on).

(3) If you’re happy with the price then proceed to the next step where you will be able to print out the packing slip and get detailed instructions on how to ship the item.
Collect Your Payment.

(4) Once Venjuvo team has received and tested your item they will send you the payment. You can get paid by PayPal or request a check. Venjuvo also lets you request store credit from one of the participating resellers (i.e. KMart) and get up to 10% more value.

If you ever bought something on Amazon then you’re probably familiar with Amazon Reviews, a small section at the bottom of each product listing displaying customer feedback, ratings and opinions about the product. That’s where usually you decide whether to buy it or not.

There is one problem with it though, sometimes there are just too many reviews, especially when it comes to buying gadgets and home electronics. You can probably go through the first 10 reviews, but that’s about it. And that’s exactly what Pluribo (Firefox only) is all about. It can quickly analyze all reviews and produce a concise natural language summary for any product.

It tries to get only the important parts from the reviews and leave the ramblings out. What you get is a list of short summaries outlining pros and cons for that or the other product.

Check out the screenshot below.

Pluribo works directly from the Amazon product page without any redirects. Click reviews link and it will give you a quick list of pros and cons. Fast and simple. If you’re interested you can check out Pluribo demo video here.

TestFreaks is an excellent cross-check review website for gadget freaks. It aggregates both expert and amateur reviews from all over the web (both from US and non-US websites) and nicely presents them in an easy-to-digest manner. There are thousands of gadgets here, including MP3 players, digital cameras, cell phones, HiFi speakers, keyboards, headsets, memory cards and so on. For each you can see a quick overview, manufacturer description, product specs, expert and user reviews, related forum threads, image gallery, video gallery and more.

I know we have mentioned a number of cool gadget review sites before, these are ExpoTV (video reviews), Swotti (quick opinions), and ReviewGist but so far TestFreaks is my favorite. Not only does it combine the features offered by other websites but also does this quite well so you won’t get overwhelmed. Definitely a website to bookmark. Some of the noteworthy features:

Product Profile:

Each gadget has a profile page. Here you can check out gadget images, video reviews, and rating scores (i.e. general user score, expert score, design, value for money, features, ease fo use, performance etc.) Check out the screenshot below.

Side-by-side Comparion:

That’s another handy feature. If you need to make up your mind between 2 or more items you can compare the gadgets side by side. Quite handy.

Price Comparison:

Finally there is a price comparison feature that lets you easily find the cheapest place where you can order the gadget.
