PhoneAble: Easily Sync iPhone With Multiple iTunes Libraries

Apple’s iOS devices are some of the best in the world, but many will agree that you are compromising a lot when you use an iPhone or iPod touch. One compromise is the fact that your iPhone can only be synchronized with one computer. Fortunately PhoneAble is a downloadable utility that lets you sync iphone with multiple iTunes libraries easily.

To use PhoneAble, you have to first back up your iOS device with your main iTunes library. Once done, install the app on other computers. The tool will configure your other computers’ iTunes to match the library key of your phone. This key that ties your iPhone to one iTunes library will be set to all your computers so that you can sync on any computer where PhoneAble is installed.

Ironically, PhoneAble is a Windows download with a Mac version to follow. This nifty app is useful if you want to sync your iOS device from any computer you happen to be on.

QlipBoard: Create How To Videos Easily

Qlipboard is a free software that lets users easily record instructional videos and add things like annotations, screenshots and other media to them. The resulting videos are produced in .WMV format and known as Qlippits. It’s like an all in one package where you can add your narration, images and drawings, and then quickly share it via email right from the app.

The app is Windows only and comes in both free and pro versions. The free version has storage limits (qlippits are hosted online with them) and limits on the video resolution quality. The video created in the free version doesn’t look that good when you compare it with the pro version, but still, I’d say it’s useful enough.

Click2Try is a unique website which allows you to test open source software in the browser itself so that you don’t go through the hassle of downloading and installing the software. It uses Java to run the apps and works on all modern browsers.

There are various software under different categories like business, education, linux etc which you can test. Registration is not required to try an app but if you want to save your sessions then you would need to sign up.

Osalt: Find Open Source Alternative to Commercial Software

Few days ago we reviewed a site called AlternativeTo which lists alternative software to any Windows, Mac and Linux apps. Today we stumbled onto Osalt which is a similar website but the difference is that it lists open source alternatives to commercial software products.

To find alternatives you can search and browse site by categories such as business, communications, databases, multimedia, development, graphic applications… etc. When you select a category the site will list open source apps and also show you the top commercial apps with their open source counterparts. Furthermore you can see ratings and read comments for each open source application.
