The App Garden is a newly created section on Flickr which basically is a repository of Flickr apps. It lists all sorts of handy tools for Flickr i.e. stats counters, download/upload tools, slideshow generators, mobile browsers and so on. You can search for apps, browse by tags, and discover new tools.

Clicking on particular app presents a page where you can read or leave comments about it, see how many people has marked it as favorite, and visit the actual site.

Behold is a Flickr search engine with two distinct features. Firstly, it searches only for high quality Flickr images, so that you don’t have to sift through poorly taken pictures. Secondly, unlike Flickr’s own image search that searches for images only by tags and filenames, Behold searches for images at a pixel level using technique called “automated image annotation”.

To put it simply, it processes each image and identifies the type of visual concepts present within the image (animal, beach, car, cloud, face etc). It allows for better filtering of image search results according to your needs.

TwitterGram is a service that allows you to have your posts made on various services displayed as Tweets on your Twitter profile. Their Flickr function allows all users of the popular photo sharing site and Twitter to combine the two into something fabulous.

Firstly, signing up take just a few minutes and you deal with the majority of your preferences there. For example, if you only want a few of the photos you upload to be sent to Twitter, you can create a special tag for these photos such as ‘ForTwitter’ or ‘Tweet’.

Once you enter in your Twitter and Flickr details and click ‘Submit’, the rest will simply work by itself. There is little or no need to re-access the service again unless you want to change your preferences. All of it is done via the normal uploading method on Flickr.

As you can see from the example below, what’s posted on your Twitter account is neat and tidy with order; unlike some of the links you see done manually. There is plenty of room for a title and the program uses Bit.ly, the URL shortening service to save on space.

For those who enjoy photo sharing this is a great web tool that really requires next to no effort to get your favourite snaps on Twitter for your followers to enjoy.

MMSface is a new website which lets you upload photos to Flickr, Hi5 and MySpace directly from your mobile phone using MMS or through email. Once you register for a free account with MMSface, you can simple send an email or MMS to flickr@mmsface.com or hi5@mmsface.com and have your photos uploaded to the respective sites. They don’t charge anything for the service but you will incur standard MMS charges from your cellphone carrier.

They also provide an easy to use windows application to upload your photos to the same sites from your computer desktop. Currently the service is limited to US customers and supports only 3 sites, but you can expect them to add more such websites (such as Facebook) in future.

FlickrIn is a nice web app which lets you add a badge to your blog or website containing multiple Flickr photos. It generates html code as well as javascript code for the Flickr photos badge which can then be easily embedded in the blog sidebar, thus giving it an exciting new look. The user interface is self-explanatory and you could create the required badge and generate the code within seconds.

How it works

Choose the method to source flickr photos. It can be by tag or by username.
Enter the required tags or the username in the next box.
Enter the number of rows of pics you’d like to have.
Click on generate.
Copy the code from the right hand side and embed it in your blog .

Multicolr Search Lab is a cool Flickr color search app which lets you find quality Flickr photos of a specific color scheme. It shows you a color selection box on the right and once you click on a color it pulls out pictures from Flickr matching that color selection. You could even choose more colors and get pictures of combined color schemes.

Like in the screenshot below, I selected 3 colors – red, brown and green. The resulting flickr pictures displaying a combination of these 3 colors were quite awesome. And keep in mind that these are all creative commons images which can be used in your blog or website with attribution.

Overall this is a good website for flickr lovers and also bloggers who love to use nice images in their blog posts.

Feeling bored ? How about some puzzles. PhotoSoup is an online Puzzle maker where you can instantly generate visual word puzzles using tag and photo pairs from Flickr. The idea is to look at the listed photos and find corresponding tags that are hidden in the puzzle. There is also a time limit so you need to be quick.

Puzzles can be created in two ways: (1) Using your or friend’s Flickr username, or (2) using some random word (tag), such as ‘animals’, ‘cars’, ‘funny’ etc. To create a game just type in the topic or username and click “Generate”.

Created puzzles can be embedded onto your blog or webpage and shared with others.

oSkope is an impressive visual search engine for searching on eBay, Amazon, Flickr and Youtube. It allows users to conveniently browse through large amount of images (or videos) and preview information with a minimal effort.

Feature Overview

Visually search for products / images / videos on popular services like Amazon, Ebay, YouTube or Flickr.
Search using ‘website (Youtube, Flickr, Ebay, …) + category + keyword’ combination (ex. Youtube->Comedy->funny cats).
Visually appealing drag’n drop interface: move search results, resize results, rearrange, hover to preview, change background color, etc.
Hover over the image to get a larger preview of the item (ex. some eBay item). Click on the image to get all item-related info (ex eBay item description).
Switch between different display modes: Grid, Stack, Pile list, and Graph.
Save Images: To store images just Drag them to “My Folder” tab located at the bottom of the screen.
