Gmail is huge. Almost everyone I know has at least one Gmail account, and many people have multiple accounts. If you fall under the latter, and are sick of having to log into your Gmail multiple times to check each one, than you should check out Google Mail Multi-Account Checker. While it doesn’t have the smoothest name, it is one of the smoothest ways to check your Gmail if you have many accounts.

Once you go to the Chrome Web Store and install the extension you just need to enter the number of accounts you have, and the log in credentials for each one. The icon for the application will sit on the top right of your screen, by the address bar, and will tell you when you have a new mail message on any of your accounts.

When you click the icon you will see a preview of your message. You can then click that and be sent to Gmail, where you can view the message in its entirety.

Features:

Keep track of multiple Gmail accounts.

Keeps track of your mail in real-time so you never miss a message.

Preview of message without going to Gmail.

Click preview and go right to Gmail to read your message.

Find Google Mail Multi-Account Checker on the Google Chrome Web Store

Gmail already has notes and labels so how can a service like MailSlayer make it more powerful? Well the default labels Gmail has only works on emails. MailSlayer, on the other hand lets you add labels to your contacts. When you install the free MailSlayer extension to your Google Chrome, a new set of features appear on the right side of every email message.

You can label a contact as family, friend, co-worker or create a completely new label. You can add multiple notes about that person so they are visible any time you are sending or receiving email from them, and you can also add notes about a particular thread of conversation.

MailSlayer also lets you create HTML rich snippets that you can use as templates to send out emails quickly. You can turn any of these features on or off from a little drop down on the top right corner.

If you are one of those people who can’t seem to get their head around texting, DeskSMS will provide you with a wonderful solution. Once you install DeskSMS on your Android phone, it will forward all text messages to your Gmail account, your Gtalk and even to a Google Chrome extension. Alternatively, the tool provides you with a web interface where you can log in and check text messages.

But the best part is, you can also reply to any text message from any of these interfaces (Gmail, Gtalk, browser) and the recipient will see your actual phone number instead of a dummy number or email address. Your Android application is kind of your console and you can use that to specify where you want your text messages forwarded to. It is an especially great app for business meetings or classes where you cannot use your cellphone but still want to receive and send text messages.

MailTo is a Chrome extension that opens email links in your preferred web mail service such as Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, Zoho Mail or Fastmail.

Once you choose your service, every email link will open in your specified webmail service with the address field already filled out. There are other solutions out there that do the same thing but this one is one of the simplest ones. It will get even better with time as the developer adds more webmail services.
