Elect.io is a cool, informative website that provides a central source of information for all candidates running in the 2010 elections.</p>

<p>To start using the website, just enter any zip code, or click through a state then a city to get to the information page. You can find information for all candidates as well as the positions in contention with each tab. Click on a tab to view the candidates&#8217; profiles which include their party affiliation, education, professional resume, and political resume.</p>
<p>Elect.io also has a special algorithm that summarizes the candidates&#8217; position on several issues. This allows you to sort through the candidates in a comparison table.</p>

<p>You can search by typing in names of Congressmen, or selecting the state and clicking on the respective name. It&#8217;ll immediately show total contributions received by him/her, Senate rank and overall rank.</p>

These are usually published on a candidate&#8217;s official website but changed to match their current stand. &#8220;Perpetually Public Data Project&#8221; is an online tool that archives these websites.</p>

<p>Perpetually Public Data Project is a free to use website that saves different versions of politicians&#8217; websites. Their stands in the past are kept on record. So in case they change anything &#8220;“ an opinion, a statement, or a campaign angle &#8220;“ you can use the archives to find it out.</p>
<p>The site is a great tool for public companies, popular brands, news sources, and voters who want to research an election candidate. You start by creating an account on the website and then adding politicians to your &#8220;news list&#8221;. Politicians can be searched via their name or the US state they belong to.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The US elections, even though more than a month away, have already got a lot of interested people monitoring the approval ratings and tracking the candidates&#8217; progress. Recognizing the massive interest in these elections, Google has rolled its very own tool to display election ratings: &#8220;Google 2010 U.S. Election Ratings&#8221;.</p>

<p>Data used to display the ratings is taken from the Rothenberg Political Report, CQ Politics, the Cook Political Report, and RealClearPolitics. Visitors to the site can choose to view the stats from each source individually. The map displays voting probabilities of each state are displayed on the map; this predicts whether a particular state will go Republican or Democrat.</p>
<p>You can zoom into portions of the map to focus on individual states. You can also compare results for the Senate, House, and Governorships of each state.</p>

<p>How doest it work?</p>

<p>1. Choose what issues are important to you (Taxes and Budget, Science, Civil Liberties and Domestic Security, Iraq and Foreign Policy, Internet and Media, Trade and Economics, Environment and Energy, Gun Control, etc.) and indicate the degree of importance by allocating points on each issue.</p>
<p>2. Answer a series of questions about those topics by simply showing whether you support or oppose policy proposals on rating scale.</p>
