ReportATaxi is a free to use phone app for iOS devices. The app is sized at 1.6 MB and compatible with iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone running iOS version 4.2 or later. The app is quite simple to use. You begin lodging your complaint by entering the taxi medallion number or using your camera to shoot a picture of the taxi.

In the end you select your complaint type from the available options.

Currently the ReportATaxi app works only for New York City.

Semper Driver Backup is a free to use desktop application that can create a backup of your computer’s drivers. The app is compatible with Windows computers and comes in a ZIP archive sized at nearly 4MB. You can easily install the application and set a folder where the backup will be saved. The program’s left pane includes the driver categories while the right pane includes details of individual drivers. Very simply you can use the buttons at the bottom to back up your Windows drivers.

The app is location enabled so you can track flags on a map, and also on Facebook and Twitter. I’m not sure if the app works across the globe. I think the data reporting to the authorities thing probably happens only in the US.
