Digg-Diversity is a site which aims at the betterment of Digg and showing an improved version of the site. It claims that the Digg algorithm isn’t upto the mark and hence it can be exploited easily. Hence this javascript mashup which was created using the Digg API takes into account the repetitiveness of the digg user and accordingly assigns ” divvs ” to an article. More the number of divvs, the better it considers the article to be.

Features:

Alternative site for digg with a similar interface.
Stories are assigned divvs instead of diggs.
Javascript mashup and uses Digg API.
Currently in beta and needs improvements.

Among all the social media sites, Digg is probably the most popular. Not only it is a great source of news stories but also a major source of traffic for websites and blogs.

If you are a die-hard digg fan then Digg Labs is a site you should bookmark. It provides some cool real time Digg tools which show what stories are being submitted and going popular in real-time. There are 5 tools namely Pics, Arc, Bigspy, Stack and Swarm.

Each of the 5 tools has its own significance. Like Pics shows the real time image activity on the site while Swarm shows related stories as they are dugg. The following screenshot shows the tool Bigspy in action.

ConvoTrack is a comment aggregation app that lets you easily track comments and conversations surrounding any blog article. It shows comments from Twitter, FriendFeed, Digg, Reddit, HackerNews and blogs.

All you have to do is drag & drop the ConvoTrack bookmarklet onto your browser toolbar and click on it whenever you want to see the online conversations about the article. The comments will be nicely loaded on a browser sidebar on the left. You can also sort comments by the source.

(1) Digg – Add Mirror – excellent Greasemonkey addon (Firefox only) that inserts links to DuggMirror, Coral Cache, Google Cache and Archive.org below each story’s Digg-count. So, if the story source is down you still can easily view its mirror page from one of the sources. More Greasemonkey goodies.
