Organizing bookmarks is big business. There are literally hundreds of services out there that want to help you keep your bookmarks neat and tidy. The problem is, most of these are installed to your browser, and therefore, only work on that specific browser. Fav-Links is different, because it works with a web app and a Windows-based app, so it works regardless of what browser you are using.

Fav-Links offers a very elegant bookmark solution that is easy to use. Once you install the program, a small icon will appear on your screen. You simply click and drag the URL you want to add to the icon and it will add it to your bookmarks. You can add a custom screenshot to the bookmark, so it looks exactly as you want. Once you have something in your bookmarks, they make it easy to find them with their handy category view. If you want to see all your sports websites, for example, they make it easy.

In addition to the category view, they also have a search function that allows you to quickly find exactly what you need. As of this writing, the web app is not available. Don’t worry though, the Windows app is very small, so it won’t take up a lot of memory on your computer. To access your bookmarks, you simple press Q+A on your keyboard.

Features:

Elegant bookmarking solution

Small Windows download and small memory footprint.

Web app coming soon for those who do not want to download.

Category view, makes it easy to browse only certain types of bookmarks.

Search bookmarks to find what you need.

Movies have become more byte-sized, with larger terabyte drives and fast Internet speeds for easy downloads. It is now common to have hundreds of movies on your desktop, but sorting through all these can be cumbersome. Fortunately, Movie Explorer paves the way for a saner movie archiving experience.

Once you run Movie Explorer on your PC, it will instantly crawl your documents for movie files and then find out its details from online movie databases like IMDB and Moviemeter. With the app running, it can automatically add new movies once the files are added. You can then sort your movies by title, year, director, genre, and more.

Movie Explorer also lets you add your own organization by creating new categories other than the usual attributes. This allows you to create your collection or playlist.

Perhaps the best feature for movie and computer geeks is the easy export to XML. This will allow you to transform your personal movie database into data you can share or use.

This app is free and pretty simple to use, especially for anyone who want to instantly see their movie collection without downloading media center apps like Boxxee, and Plex.

Features:

Crawls and organizes your movie files.

Free and easy to use.

Gets data from IMDB.

Lightweight compared to other media center apps.

Similar Tools: Plex and Boxee.
