Honk is a new social network for car buyers, which is built around that idea – to help us find great cars using actual ‘user’ reviews.

The main thing that I liked about Honk is that it uses existing networks to enable its users to sign up quickly and easily and get going within a few minutes. Let’s be honest, we’re not going to use it outside of the small period when we’re considering buying a car so there’s no point in jazzing up your profile. By using Facebook connect you can also see what cars your friends or people you are in contact with have had. They can then tell you the good and the bad about the car. There are also saved user reviews for each car available by clicking on the car in question.

You can also simply browse through a list of cars or (and this is my favourite) you can use your personality traits and current demographic position to refines the search results. So for example your personality is assessed, how many children, what it will be used for, your age and your gender. This then gives you a list of cars which the app thinks are suitable to for you.

There are also traditional features such as removing certain manufacturers and car classes.

It works by the user (i.e. you) asking the community a question. Then, people will read your question which is displayed on the homepage and in a series of categories. They will then vote as to whether it is normal with the real-time result being displayed at the top of the questions page.

People can also comment on a question that doesn’t have a straight forward yes/no answer to give advice or to convince you that there’s nothing wrong. The community is active and buzzing with witty remarks and sound advice.

Submitting a question is easy once you’re registered. Other than that, there is no need to register if you just want to see what’s normal/abnormal with other people and vote on questions. A great website to seek help and it’s addicting!

It has a nice user interface where on the left hand side it shows a live social graph of what your Kiobo friends and other users are browsing, under various tags and on the right column it has got your customized tag cloud and a list of your kiobo friends.

If you click on a particular tag, it displays the various websites which other users are browsing and recommends you the sites of your interest based on your browsing history. It also lets you link it to your social networking accounts like Facebook.

It also claims to have some good privacy controls and you can limit the sharing of your browsing history. Overall a nice tool for those who love to surf the web together.

How it works:

To become part of StumbleUpon community you need to install StumbleUpon browser toolbar (IE, Firefox). Once up and running you’re ready to start stumbling. Everytime you press ‘Stumble’ on your browser toolbar you’ll be taken to some website which was recommended by other stumblers with similar interests. By optionally rating these websites you can automatically share them (only ones you like) with like-minded people and at the same time train StumbleUpon about what you do and don’t like. The more you rate the better recommendations get.

• Rate stuff (Thumb/Up down), send by email, share with friends, etc.
• Update interests for more specific recommendations (Cars, Fashion, Internet, Computers, etc.)
• Click Photos: To start Stumbling through user-recommended photos
• StumbleVideo: Stumble through user-recommended videos. (Recommended)
• Read reviews for the page you’re on
