People who suffer from colorblindness need tools to help them identify the colors they are viewing on a computer screen. Thankfully such tools exist and many of them are freely available online. One such tool that helps colorblind people as well as web developers is Colorblind Assistant.

Colorblind Assistant is a free to use desktop application for Windows computers. The app helps its users by revealing information about the color their mouse pointer is resting on. After you install the application, you will find its information window in the bottom right corner. This window reveals the name and codes of the color your mouse pointer is on; you can find the RGB and HEX codes clearly written under the name of the color.

Colorblind people can simply read the color name to know which color they are seeing and web developers can use the color codes to replicate the color in their designs.

If you have ever needed an easy to use interface to create custom colors and color palettes, than ColRD is the application for you. It’s an easy to install Chrome application that allows you to work right from your browser. By simply dragging some sliders and clicking some buttons you can create palettes with as few or as many colors as you wish.

Google Maps Colorizr: Customize Google Map Colors

Google Maps is very useful as it can be embedded on a website easily. But while these maps offer different types of views, they do not offer any color customizations. In case you would like to replace the default colors on the map with the ones you like, check out a web service called Google Maps Colorizr.

Google Maps Colorizr is a free to use web tool that lets you customize the colors on a Google Map. The site presents you with a map and lets you select a certain aspect of it such as the natural landscape. For this aspect you can enter the HEX code of the color you want it to be filled with. You can select customizations for as many map aspects as you want.

As you make the changes, the embeddable code for the map on the far-right pane is updated. The HEX colors are translated into their HSL values to be compatible with Google Maps. You can copy this code and use it on your blog or website.
