OKITE: An Alarm Clock Thats Sends An Embarrassing Tweet When You Hit The Snooze Button

For some people, the snooze button on alarm clocks is a useful feature. But for most people the snooze button is just another way of ignoring the alarm clock completely. Sleepy people keep hitting the snooze button and fail to wake up when they should. Here to discourage you from using the snooze button is an alarm clock called OKITE.

OKITE is a free to use iOS application. It is sized at 7.9MB and is compatible with the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad running version 4.3 or later. The app is an alarm that strongly discourages you from using the snooze button by posting an embarrassing tweet to your Twitter account each time you hit snooze. The app lets you set alarm times easily.

But remember to wake up when the alarm rings as using the snooze button will roll out a random embarrassing tweet.

NOTE: the tweets are in Japanese so only users who have an understanding of basic Japanese will be able to make use of it.

TimerTab: Google Chrome Based Stopwatch, Alarm & Timer

There are several applications and websites that have time related functions but having all of them right from within your browser helps a lot. TimerTab is a Chrome extension that gives you a timer, stopwatch and alarm in a browser tab. You can start the alarm and timer with a single click and even pause the stopwatch whenever you need to.

When the preset time comes, the tab starts flashing to notify you along with a small desktop pop-up. At that time, the tool also starts playing a YouTube video of a large sized bell ringing. The tool has a minimalist design and a really clean interface to give you some much needed tools right from within your browser.

One of the things that may make the tool even better is the option to set multiple timers.

GMTSlider: Easily Compare Time Zones Around The World

GMTSlider is a nifty tool that lets you quickly compare time zones around the world by adding multiple sliders for each time zone and then using it to see how changing the time in one slider affects the other. The default slider will show your current time. You can select the time zone from the drop down menus, and click the ‘+’ sign to add new sliders.

There’s an export link option to generate a link for the page for sharing purposes. You can select the 12 hour or 24 hour time format for the sliders.

The problem however is that currently, there’s a lag of 30 minutes in its calculations. For example, my time zone is GMT+5:30 but it will only show GMT+5. I think this is something which the developer should rectify. The site also has a Twitter profile and you can send direct messages to it to instantly know what the current time is in any city. Details on how to send the message are given on the site.
