Few days back I reviewed tool that lets you compare cost of living between two cities in US, today I stumbled upon similar site, but this time you can compare cost of living internationally. It was created by Google Ireland’s ex employee Banja Luka.

The site currently holds data for 293 major cities worldwide, and presents you detailed reports reflecting prices in areas such as Market, Transportation, Utility, Rent Per Month, Buy Apartment Price, Salaries, Restaurants and Financing.

Additionally to comparing, you can view cost of living by countries, see rankings by city, check out property market and cost of living index. Moreover you can contribute to the site and add information for your city.

Packing a lunch that you made yourself to bring to work is one of the best ways to save money without having to cut back on luxuries. However, how do you know how much does a sandwich cost, and how much money you’re actually saving; if any at all?

The Sandwich Price Calculator tells you how much it cost to make a sandwich at home. It’s from the guys over at cockeyed.com in their ‘How Much is Inside’ series.

The app consists of a virtual sandwich maker whereby you select what type of bread you want to use and then add in the fillers. It’s nothing flashy; consisting mainly of boxes that need to be ticked and dropdown menus that need to be selected. When you click calculate, your virtual sandwich is displayed as seen in the screenshot with the price of each ingredient beside it. The total cost is shown at the bottom.

They also have another page which shows you how they calculated how much the average person puts on their sandwich and how much each ingredient costs.

This is a useful app for those trying to cut back on the spending or anyone who’s interested in seeing how much their sandwich actually costs them.

Walk or Bus is an online chart by the website VisualMotive which tells you whether you should board a bus or just walk to your destination so that you can reach there faster. Assuming that an average speed of a bus to be 15 miles per hour and that of a human to be 3 miles per hour, it applies the rule of thumb – “if you have N blocks to travel, you should only wait for the bus if it is less than N minutes away” to make the calculations. If you think you walk faster then there’s also a separate symbol showing the man who can walk a mile in 15 minutes.
