Screen Draw is a simple and easy to use addon for Mozilla Firefox which allows users to paint and draw over webpages and save a screenshot of it in .png or .jpeg format.

The add-on is great for people who want to annotate while they are reading something online, or to help users figure out what they have to do when they arrive at a specific webpage. For example, which button to click to make an account on Dropbox, etc.

Just visit the add-on page for Screen Draw and install it. Once you have installed the add-on, click on the little “Draw” icon at the bottom of your browser window to start painting over the webpage, and once you are done click the “Save” icon to save.

Marker.To: Highlight Any Text On A Webpage & Share

When we are studying a book or preparing for exams, we tend to highlight important points to remember about different topics. Think of a situation when you’re reading something on the Internet and you want to jot down points. You can save them in Notepad or write it by hand which many of you may not like. To help you highlight important stuff while browsing is a handy extension known as Marker.to.

With Marker.to, you can highlight important information on any website you are browsing. The highlight version of the webpage can then be shared with anyone using a specific URL created by the service. That URL can be shared on Twitter, Facebook or via email with any friend or colleague. Once installed, a small pen icon will appear right next to your address bar. All you have to do is click on that icon and start highlighting important points from any article. If you want, you can change the color of the highlight as well.

Memonic: Gather Research Material With Ease Online

Chop: Easy Code Annotation & Sharing

If you are working in a distributed team of coders then you will know that the biggest issue is quickly sharing code feedback. It’s easy when the programmer is right in front of you. But if he’s in a different timezone somewhere, you have to rely on tools like Chop. It’s a simple app that lets you put in the code and then mark the errors (with comments) and share it. Glass is a browser add-on that makes real-time sharing of information – and thoughts on a particular webpage you are browsing – simple and easy. The extension is available for Firefox and Chrome, and you need to sign up to get started. Friends can be invited and added. It uses a pop-up window (called a slide) that’s like a layer on the webpage you are browsing, and helps you share your thoughts about the site by placing notes, including pictures, videos etc. You can also chat with friends using the same slide.

SpeakingImage: Interactively annotate you digital images & share

Pictures only display a particular scene. If you need to clarify or explain objects in the image, you need to do it yourself. Based on this idea, a great new web service called SpeakingImage lets people interactively annotate digital images.

Speaking Image is a wonderful website that lets people annotate images. By annotating images you can let others read what you have to say about a particular part of an image. For instance in a picture of a popular baseball match you can annotate your position in the crowd and let others know where you were sitting. Another example would be to label parts of something technical such as a computer’s motherboard.

Along with textual annotations, you can add differently colored layers specifying certain parts of the image. This can help classify similar objects in an image such as buildings of the same height.

The annotations and layers are all interactive i.e. labels are displayed when viewers place the mouse pointer on them. Moreover the viewer can choose which layers to view and which to hide. All these features work together and create photos that say a lot more.

Right now Speaking Image is letting people use the service for free and annotate the photographs they upload. You can get a direct link for your annotated photos.
