Send To Kindle: Amazon’s Desktop App To Transfer Documents Directly To Your Kindle Device

The Kindle device has long been in need of a dedicated application that transfers documents from your computer to the Kindle device. But since this can be done simply through Windows, such an app would need extra features to be noteworthy. These ‘extra features’ have certainly been added into Amazon’s new app titled “Send to Kindle.”

Send to Kindle is Amazon’s free desktop application to help Kindle owners transfer documents from their computers to their devices. The app’s setup file is sized at nearly 5MB and is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7. With the app installed you can right-click on documents or a selection of them and use the context menu to send files directly to Kindle. In case your device is not connected to your computer, the files are saved for synchronization later.

Supported documented files include .DOC, .DOCX, .TXT, .RTF, .JPEG, .JPG, GIF, .PNG, .BMP and .PDF. The app also adds a new virtual printer that can send virtually anything you can print to your Kindle device by first converting it into a PDF file.

Bookflavor: A Better Way To Browse Books On Amazon

Amazon’s website does not have the best interface for browsing and discovering new books. Yet, it remains one of the most economical online places to purchase new book and ebooks. What you need is a friendlier way to browse Amazon’s books section. This is precisely what a web service called Bookflavor provides.

By default the display shows Amazon’s list of bestsellers. The book titles are displayed without any rankings or numbers against a reader-friendly white background. You can switch from Amazon’s bestsellers to the New York Times bestsellers list anytime.

Clicking on a book title takes you to its Bookflavor page. Here you can read the book’s synopsis along with its reviews. The book reviews are fetched from Amazon as well as GoodReads. The Amazon purchasing link for each book can also be found on this page.

Clea.nr: Clutter Free YouTube & Amazon Browsing

Clea.nr is a site that provides browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Safari that help you browse two very popular sites – YouTube and Amazon – in a clean, clutter-free interface. It eliminates everything that it considers unnecessary and helps you focus on the main item on the page. It doesn’t work like those readability add-ons which, when clicked, clean ups webpages; instead it uses its own interface on top of YouTube and Amazon to take control right from the start.

As you can see in the screenshots above, after installing this extension, when you visit YouTube or Amazon, it redirects you to the Clea.nr version of the site from where you can start your searching and browsing. Not sure if all users would like this aspect but it does eliminate the clutter.

We all know Amazon and other online stores offer a wide range of discounts on different products from time to time, but a normal person like me does not know when they do that. To get alerts when prices drop on items in your Amazon wishlist, you should give WishAlert a try.

WishAlert is an easy to use online service which notifies you via text alert when prices drop on any item present in your wishlist.
