SpeedTile: Multi-tab Startpage with Visual Bookmarks

When I get online first thing in the morning, there are certain websites that I always browse before doing anything else. I believe many others do the same thing, these often includes news sites, personal websites or any other web pages that we want to follow up for updates.

It gets kind of tedious to go to them one by one. You can of course bookmark these sites or use an online feedreader or a startpage but the SpeedTile offer somethig slightly different.

SpeedTile is a web service that allows you to create visual bookmarks. Each bookmark is called a tile since it is in the shape of a tile and it allows you to view an updated snapshot of the URL you have bookmarked. It is simple to use, just click on an empty tile and enter the URL of the page you want to bookmark.

The best thing about SpeedTile are the Tabs that can be used to organize different bookmarks into multiple pages. Pretty neat.

Some of the main features are:

  • Visual bookmarking app to save and organize your favorite URLs for easy browsing.
  • Updated snapshots for each bookmark.
  • Create tabs to categorize your bookmarks.
  • Arrange them alphabetically or by creation date.
  • A firefox plugin for one-click bookmarking.
  • Share your bookmarks by creating a public URL.
  • Similar websites: Tizmos and Only2Clicks.
