Software Data Cable: Connect Android Phone To PC Without USB Cable

Software Data Cable is a nifty, helpful app for the Android OS that allows users to connect their smartphones to the computer without having to connect it with a standard USB cable.

connect phone to computer without usb

The app uses a wireless method of transfer through a wi-fi signal to allow file transfers from a PC to a storage card on a phone/tablet (and vice versa). The app makes use of another app installed on the phone, which then gives you an IP and port number needed to connect to the phone. Just enter that into your PC Windows Explorer,  and you will then be shown the contents of your memory SD card.

You can then easily upload files on your memory card without having to mount and unmount the SD card frequently.

Features

  • Make file transfer wireless via Wi-Fi.
  • Quickly and easy upload/remove files from memory SD card using PC Windows Explorer and given IP number.
  • Wi-Fi required.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been using AirDroid which works well for transferring single files via a web browser, but for multiple files and folders I’ll give Software Data Cable a try.
