PunyPNG: Reduce the KB Size of an Image File
PunyPNG is a free digital image optimizer that can dramatically reduce KB size of an image file (JPG, GIF PNG) by converting it into a highly-compressed PNG image. This comes in very handy if you want to improve the web page loading on you site or simply want to reduce the size of bulky images.
Works really easy, just click on the “UPLOAD IMAGES” button and select images on your computer. The application will then automatically process chosen images and then provide a download link to the optimized images. It will also display how much space it has saved.

Smush.it has been taken over by yahoo for yslow, i’ve tried to search for its service but never seem to find it.

Dan: Yeah, it kinda bugged when Smush.it got swallowed up by YSlow, so hopefully punypng will help with your needs. Compression-wise, it generally beats on Smush.it most of the time.
