PlaySEGA: Play Cassic SEGA Games Online
PlaySEGA.co.uk does exactly what is says on the tin – it lets you play SEGA games online. There are many games of different varieties such as those once available in arcades and on the Megadrive many moons ago. When you first go to the site you’ll see plenty of columns of games that you can play for free online.
First however you have to sign up using the ‘Quick Sign-up’ button up in the top right hand corner of the screen. After you have signed up many of the basic games such as those in the ‘Arcade Section’ and the puzzles are available instantly. As you progress through the games you collect things called ‘Rings’ and gain score points which act as a kind of ranking system among the players.
The controls are easy enough and you don’t need a joypad to play the SEGA games, using WASD on the keyboards is enough for most titles.
The music is good considering it’s all the original stuff from the SEGA games. In fact, I think the old raspy voices and digital music give it a certain charm. I played ‘Off the Rails’ which you can see in the screenshot and the Mexican music and calls of ‘Ariba!’ were hilarious.
You also have an avatar which you can customize by buying clothes and changing their personal appearances.
There is a VIP function which will give you access to all of the games however it costs money. While you can do a five day free trial of the VIP account version it’s not worth your while as it offers few more games. All in all this is a great site for a bit of lunchtime button-mashing in the office.
