Windows 8 has minimized the usage of the desktop which is something that not all users are responding positively to. One thing that lacks customization options in Windows 8 are the tiles on the desktop. If you would like to customize desktop tiles, you should check out an app called OblyTile.

OblyTile is a freeware application that is sized at nearly 1.5 MB and compatible with computers running Windows 8. The app is basically a customization tool that lets you create new tiles on the Windows 8 desktop.
Creating a tile through the app is simple. You enter the tile label and specify its filepath. You can set the tile to be a shortcut to anything including a file or a program. Once you have labeled the tile and specified which file it opens, you can assign a color to it, choosing from light blue, dark blue, green, and red.
Features:
- A user-friendly desktop app.
- Compatible with Windows 8.
- Lets you create new tiles on desktop.
- Tiles can point to files or programs.
- Tiles can be colored light blue, dark blue, green, or red.
- Similar tool: MetroApp Link.
