After getting a camera with enough megapixels and a good lens, all that remains is finding the right visual filters to enhance the look of your images. Normally third party applications offer such filters which can be used on your photos after they have been taken. However sometimes you feel that taking the picture from a different angle would have applied that particular effect better.
It would be really helpful if you could simply view what the picture would look like with the filter while you were taking it. In other words, you need an image filter application that provides you with real time effects. Meta offers precisely that.

Meta is a smartphone application for iOS devices. The app is sized at nearly 8 MB and is compatible with iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad devices that are running iOS version 5.0 or later. The app basically provides you with a real time image filter – your camera’s normal view is changed by the view of the filter. Before even taking the pictures you can see what your images will look like after the filter is applied.

The real time filters offered by the application are modifiable and can be edited while you take the picture. Including Woodblock Print, a Fisheye Lomo, a CRT TV, and a Light Leak Camera, you get twenty-three high quality image filters with which you can experiment and get beautiful pictures.

The filters offered by the app can be applied to photos already in your camera roll as well.

Once you have taken the images, they can be shared on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. You can choose to save high resolution images for print purposes.

Meta is available from iTunes for $1.99. But the app’s developers have generously offered the app for free to the first 15 commenters on this review.
Features:
- A user-friendly smartphone app.
- Compatible with iOS devices.
- Lets you apply filters to images in real time.
- Lets you share finished images on social networks.

There are more smartphones than Iphones, so will this work on my HTC? I am over Iphone.. too expensive and unreliable just a consumer gimmick!
Seems nifty.
Sounds cool. I did the click through, not post on FB, as per instructions.
Sounds like an app I need!
Could be the next instagram!
Pretty cool app, I don’t have anything like it on my iPad atm so it might come in useful. Informative review, good work
Great app ,let me at it
Looks neat, hope the battery usage is minimal… hipstamatic fries my phone.
This is awesome! Thank you for reviewing!
I think it is a brilliant idea, but there is a place for having the original photo to perhaps do other things with later.
I totally want this. Would be really great.
Well, I *do* have an iOS device, but it doesn’t have a camera, unfortunately …
But, if this freebie is still available (looks like I might be commenter #2 ?), I would happily pass it along to a friend w/an iOS camera-capable device!
I love real-time filters!
Oh this looks so nice! I’d love to try it out!
wow, that is a great app! looking forward to it! and a great review with nice examples!
I would love a copy, please
Cool! I want to edit my pics using this app
This could be useful, wouldn’t mind trying it out.
Quality actually looks pretty good
It does look interesting, even though the idea of “live preview” is also offered by other applications such as Instagram and Photo Booth, however the filters here look quite interesting, I’d love to see what else it has to offer.
I’d like to try!
this is pretty cool!!! i like!
I’d like a free copy for sure
Why won’t my comment stick? I would like a free copy
[I left a comment before, but it looks like it wasn't posted]
Even though the “live preview” is already used by applications like Instagram, Photo Booth, etc. the filters in this one look interesting. I would be interested in seeing what kind of size and resolution would the pictures have and also how integrated it is to say Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
I’d love to see what else this App has to offer.
Did I win this? Oh well, I do not have an iPhone anyways.
Am I in the first 15 commenters for free Meta download?
