Lockbin : Send Encrypted Emails
Lockbin is a handy online emailer that allows you to send sensitive data via encrypted email messages. No registration required.

How does it work?
- 1. Type in your message and provide a solid ‘Secret Word’ (encryption key) that will be used for encrypting the message.
- 2. Recipient receives an email with a link to pick up your message.
- 3. In order to read the message s/he will need to enter your ‘Secret Word’.
- 4. Once opened it will be automatically deleted from the server.

The big problem is that this is using preshared key technology. Very combersome and not ad hoc like email is meant to be. What I have found is Voltage Security has a cool offering that provided true ad hoc email. http://vsn.voltage.com
True… but it’s free. I guess it should suffice if you aren’t planning to use it extensively. However, if you need something for the whole company/ organization than VSN is definitely better.
Anyway, there’s only one true way to preserve secrecy : close the curtains, close the lights, pop up the volume (hard-rock is best), then whisper in your corespondent’s ear “the” information…
