It’s a cute trick but there’s better ways of doing it that down rely on you trusting a third party with your confidential document. There are several people now offering PDF “printers”. These install as a printer on your PC and you then print any document to the “printer” and you get a PDF out.

I like PDF995 http://www.pdf995.com for its simplicity (so good for end users, but costs US$9.95 to get rid of the adware) and PDFCreator http://www.pdfforge.org/products/pdfcreator which is completely free and more capable but harder for the tyro user.

Thanks for sharing. Trust is definitely a major issue here. If it’s a sensitive document there is no way I would convert/share/store it online.

For all PDF conversion needs I prefer local tools as well. I think PDFCreator is one of the better ones. On the other hand, tools like Koolwire can be very helpful when you don’t have access to programs on your PC. For instance, you’re at work and need to convert some DOC file to PDF.
