Grids have been the central canvas for writing and drawing for centuries. Today their use is being employed in the internet arena; grid layouts play an important role in web designing and development.

In recent years grids have been so helpful to web designers that various tools exist to facilitate grid-making itself. One such helpful grid-making tool is the appropriately titled Gridmaker v3.

Created by Paul Holliday, this website comprises of two things: the pane on the left and the resulting grid on the right. The left pane is where we can play around with the grid’s settings. These settings include the overall width of the grid, column properties (number of columns, etc.), baseline colors, and the ability to choose from the available presets.

When the grid has been made, it can be saved as a PNG file on the user’s hard drive. Usage of Gridmaker v3 is absolutely free and will surely benefit countless web designers and developers.
