Once you install the app, you simply drag the locked file over the shortcut and it produces a new unrestricted version of the file. I don't believe it works with password protected files, either. Used to be I would try to find a new program that did this every 3 months, because I never got one to consistently work, but I haven't had to use anything since I started using the Freeware PDF Unlocker.
