The food pyramid featured on the back of cereal boxes these days  is less helpful than it used to be. Looking more like a logo than a chart, the pyramid features a man running up a multi-colored triangle ““ a symbol, its designers say, of the importance of supplementing proper diet with exercise.

Once you search for your food of choice the program will ask if you’re adding anything to the meal. For example, type in “Corn Flakes” and you’ll have the option of adding milk to the meal. Once the website has all the information it needs it will tell you how many servings from the various food groups your meal includes, as well as how many “extras” are included ““ that is, sugar, solid fats and alcohol.
