EtherPad: Collaborate On Text Docs Online In Real-Time

As you may remember, not so long ago we reviewed live document collaboration tool called ShowDocument. EtherPad is another such website that aims to make it easy to work on documents with colleagues in real-time.

The website doesn’t require any registration. To get started just click on “Create new pad” and you will be taken to text editor page. Once there, simply grab the given URL and use it to invite others.

Anything you or others type will automatically show up on the screen of every participant. To make it easier to distinguish between different contributors, everyones contributions will appear in different color. Another neat feature is ability to keep track of document changes and easily revert the document to an earlier version at any time. Moreover, EtherPad provides you with a chat board.

Love this application- it’s a quick and easy way for students to collaborate on writing and editing without even having to have an account. It’s fast, it’s cool, and it’s free. And we all love free!
