I’ve always wondered how reliable these sites are, though. I use another site, http://www.checksite.us, which is a shorter URL and allows you to check actual URLs with page names in them (like mydomain.com/test.html).

The thing is though, from what I understand, the sites check to see if the website you enter returns a code 200 (which means it was accepted), and if it does, then it tells you that it’s up, and if it doesn’t, then it assumes it is down.

But what if the website is up, but has a php/mysql error? Some Internet users may assume that the problem is on their end, not knowing that it’s a PHP/MySQL error.
