Corlive: Email Alternative to Receive, Send and Manage Messages

Web based application that wants to be a spam-free eMail alternative. Corvile provides you with a personal link that you can give out to others instead of email. Works really simple, just register and get yourself a Corlive (http://corlive.com/YourName) link. Anyone who knows about it will be able to send you text messages.

From the page: “Corlive.com is your alternative to obsolete e-mail. Only humans can send messages via your contact form at Corlive.com, and so you will probably never find SPAM in your Inbox. On the other hand, no legitimate e-mails sent to the Corlive.com account will ever be filtered out by any SPAM filters, because there are no SPAM filters – they are not necessary.”

Lol, I don’t believe this going to work. A spam can just fill in these fields easily and I will get a lot of spam…? No captcha??

This is just plain stupid. When someone wants to send me a message, they are not going to go to a specific website for me and write the message. They are going to use their tool of choice that uses an antiquated method called “email.” Email is not dead, this is just stupid.

This might be usefull so that people can respond too you who don’t have an e-mail. But this tool does not have any spam counter-measures ….

Hi,

I’m very glad makeuseof.com decided to review our service. Now:

@alfred
Spammers can’t just fill the fields on corlive.com because every user (identified by IP) after sending x messages in 24h will see a CAPTCHA and is required to answer it. In this way, “normal” users don’t have to fill additional CAPTCHA, while spammers will be stopped.

@Nathan
Well, sending a message at corlive.com is as simple as sending an e-mail. But this is just my opinion.

Konrad.

Dear corlive.com,

Nasty spammers can spoof IP address because the OS sets the source and destination IP headers which are in the packets sent over the internet. It’s not easy to fake this but the nasty/evil spammers can do this. That’s why the captcha was invented to verify that user is posting form and not some sort of spambot who can fill in forms and fake ip addresses.

Greetings,
Alfred Westerveld

@Alfred Westerveld

Thanks for your comment.

Yes, you’re right. We are now thinking about it. The idea is to start showing CAPTCHA to all the users (senders) as soon as the number of messages being sent in minute is much higher that the average.

And if this will be broken too (somehow) or will be not enough to stop SPAM, then we will simply activate CAPTCHA for every user.
