CodeOrgan: Hear How Any Website Sounds

Ever wonder how your favorite website sounds? Me neither. The folks at CodeOrgan evidently have, however.

The site is really easy to use: simply enter any URL and hit the “Play This Website” button.CodeOrgan will then analyze the web site’s content and isolate all the characters on the musical scale, A through G, to construct a melody. Whether the scale used is major or minor depends on how many non-musical letters are left on the page after A through G are isolated: even is major, odd is minor. Finally, a drum beat is selected based on the ratio of musical letters to non-musical letters.

Confused? Don’t be. All you need to know is that you can enter any URL and CodeOrgan will create a piece of music based on it. Obviously you can’t expect a masterpiece, but you can have a little fun experimenting.

  • Turn any URL into a song
  • Melody, scale and drum beat determined by site’s contents
