Caveat Emptor: Instantly Check Recent Product Recalls

Caveat Emptor is Latin for “Buyer Beware,” a very fitting name for a Firefox extension that lets you see recent product recalls before you make an online purchase. Here’s how it works: highlight any product name, right-click it and then click “Caveat Emptor” followed by “Check this product.” You’ll be shown the search results from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, showing you any recent recalls the company and product have suffered from recently.

Since it essentially acts as a search engine, Caveat Emptor works on any website: eBay, Amazon, Craigslist and any others you can think of. The results are kept up to date by the commission itself, meaning you’ll find the information relevant for your purchase.
