How about running your favorite web applications as any other desktop program? Bubbles is a free Windows client that lets you access web services from within the desktop. Open services like Gmail, Flickr, Google Calendar… and pretty much any web application without launching your browser.

As mentioned above, Bubbles already comes with a number of preconfigured services and all you need to do is enter login details. However apart from bringing these services to your desktop, Bubbles also adds a number of cool features:

  • Google calendar notifier: Get instant desktop notifications for upcoming events.
  • Gmail / Yahoo email Notifier: Get instant desktop-notifications for new email.
  • Flickr Uploader: Upload photos by dragging them on top of Flickr Bubble.

    Isn’t this a bit like PRISM from Mozilla??? (Thinks it was Mozilla anyway!) Still a very nifty app.

    it was pre-dated mozilla by about two years, i’ve been using it since early 2007.

    I am dissapointed with this program. It seems to only open the selected pages in IE. What really annoys me is none of the pages loaded, not even the Gmail one that came by default. I do not know whether it is due to the network I am on (I’m currently at the university), but I could not get any of the ‘bubbles’ to work. I hope Mozilla Prism is more flexible.
