Sadly this site is offline as they’ve been hacked (”again” in their own words, which doesn’t bode well).
Hey Paul, thanks for the notice. I really appreciate your comments
As about Boxstr, well … I am very disappointed about them. Now they are asking users to re-upload their files … that sucks. Seemed like a nice service to me. )-:
Hey Guys,
Rory from BOXSTr here. Just wanted to clear thigns up - no you do not have to reupload your files. We still have your files on the server, you can easily request a zip to download them if you want and that will come in handy over the next few days when it comes moving files to our new system.
Here’s what happened: there was a major security breach in our former scripting. We have yet to discover what caused it and had no choice but to release our new version earlier than we wanted. We tried to keep our older version up but after a day of being active it would mysteriously go down and everything would be deleted. So we would waste tons of money and hours staying up for two days straight to restore our backups (yes, we really do backup your files).
Finally we had to make the decision, let the site fail due to hackers, or release our new version early. So we had to. Only thing missing from it was an easy upgrade from how files were stored on the old version to how they are on the new one. So that is what we are working on right now. We’re here for the long haul, just wanted to put you guys at ease and clear up the reuploading it.
Take care and if you have any questions, we’ll be here.
-Rory
I registered yesterday, October 29th, and either they reduced their storage space last week or it varies by location. I am in Argentina and I got a 5 Gb account.
I do not have an opinion about the service, yet, I am still trying it and comparing it to similar services.
Yeah well i live in AUS and boxstr doesn’t even come up. at all
That’s strange
I can confirm that it works from UK and Europe.
i use boxstr for my blog images and music. why is it down again? this is sad.
thinking of changing host now.
Yup, it seems to be down, AGAIN!
The time it was down was because we were doing extensive back work on the site (actually installing a brand new BEASTLY server) so basically the site would go down everytime we had to either shut off the server or unplug a cable over a couple days.
Don’t expect to see the site have any downtime soon!
All my files loaded a few months ago are missing. Could you please let me know how to recover and download all as a zip file.
You can’t get them back. They’re gone–at least, that’s what the message was to me when I logged in to find out what happened to mine. BOXSTR SUCKS.
yeah, you guys deleted my files because i wasn’t online for 30 days. man, just like google. no, wait. google would *never* do something so inane/anti-customer. ugh.
People, use Picasa–you can create as many google accounts as you want if you run out of space. Boxstr sucks.
Well if you need a host no one gets it done better than 1Stopupload.com 10GB space and 50GB of bandwidth a month! Where can you beat that? Plus 3 ways to upload, Flash, URL, and by Browser.
P.S. Uptime is 99.9%

I can only add that these guys are really not customer-oriented. i went to my myspace page, and found that my background pic had been removed. No warning. No explanation. So, I logged in to my account and found that they’d deleted the file. In fact, they deleted *all* of my files, and their message was not pleasnt–it was even aggressive, stating, in effect: “You haven’t been active online within 30 days, so we’ve deleted all of your files, and don’t ask us to put them back up because they’ve been completely wiped from our servers.” Seriously, it was like that. Unbelievably inane. I know a good fix for this, but I’m not going to reveal it here. I don’t think anti-customer online “companies” like that should succeed, personally.
