If you happen to be taking a stroll outside and decide to do something interesting to pass the time, you should give AroundMe for iPhone a try.

AroundMe is an application that allows users to find information regarding their surroundings, allowing them to find many important things – such as gas stations, nearest restaurants, pharmacies, etc.

Once you run the AroundMe application it detects your current location and allows you to choose from different categories: Bank, Bar, Gas Station, Hospital, Hotel, Movie Theatre, Restaurant, Supermarket, Theatre and Taxi.

On choosing the category, the user is then shown a listing of all the nearby respective items – locations on the map, the route from where you are standing and even have the option to email the information to a friend or family member.

It would be great if you use the application outside in the open on a cloudless day – as the whole GPS system depends on getting your location as accurately as possible. However, the app will not work on an iPod Touch as the app requires a built-in GPS.
