4info’s privacy policy does not provide sufficient protection for your cellphone number, IMHO. They cite some examples where it will be revealed to others. One biggie is if they get acquired or go bankrupt, etc., but there are a couple of other situations mentioned.

So while the services might be handy, I would suggest users think what it might mean if their cellphone number did get out. Once personal data escapes, it’s impossible to put it back in the bottle. Imagine the hassle of getting (and paying for!) cellphone SMS spam.

      Thanks for heads up.

Of course, if 4-Info were to attract some business that was desiring to acquire 4-Info, there would be no benefit to 4-info users if all the 4-Info cell numbers had to be withheld from the acquiring company, since the acquiring company would no longer be able to alert 4-Info users by such an agreement.

I’ve been using 4-info for over a year, never had any problems in any manner (well, aside from hysterically poor search results – I specify Manchester New Hampshire and get search results from El Plano Texas…. hmmmmm).
