September 3, 2011George,
your question is very vague. We need more information to help you!
What kind of computer is this, i.e. a desktop PC or a laptop?
What manufacturer and model computer is it?
If desktop, how is the keyboard attached to it, i.e. PS2 or USB etc.?
What operating system are you using?

September 3, 2011New computer..?
Have you plugged in the keyboard’s cord into the mouse’s slot..?
Make sure relevant cords are plugged into their respective slots..
Green is for Mouse.. and Purple is for Keyboard..
If this doesn’t helps.. replace your keyboard asap..

September 4, 2011If the keyboard is a usb keyboard, it may be that the drivers need to be uninstalled. Right click My Computer; click Properties’ then Task Manager. Are there any yellow question marks, or exclamation marks? If so, right click each one, and then click “update drivers”. If not, right click each usb device and uninstall the drivers. Reboot the computer and let it find the drivers itself. Chances are that will sort out the problem
