Should I go for a wireless or wired adapter to connect a media player to my HDMI TV?

amanda davidson asks:

Some advice please. I am thinking of purchasing a media player for the purpose of playing music, watching films, YouTube etc. on my HDMI TV.

If I were to go with a wired connection, are the plug and play adapters any use?  I don’t want unsightly cables lying around. Do you still have as good a connection with a wireless USB adapter? Many thanks.

Wireless will still be sluggish, I would recommend using HDMI cables. The one you are thinking about purchasing should have HDMI, I would check. It give you the best HD performance.

Hello, wired would be the best connection for access to internet.  HDMI would be the preferred option for media/sound from media player to TV.

You can’t connect a wireless usb adapter to a TV anyway, so I assume you mean could your media player box will be running over wireless? Strongly advise against that, as Richard says there will be very slow performance. For internet videos it’s fine, but when you’re talking about streaming HD files then you will notice severe delays.
