When I click the shutdown button on my PC it closes all the applications and hangs, displaying the message “shutting down”, but it wont turn off the CPU. I was forced to click turn off button on CPU. What should I do?

It is probably a specific program that is failing to shutdown correctly and causing the computer to hang. I suggest turning off some of the programs running in your taskbar before shutting down, and see if that makes a difference.

    Naresh,

what Windows operating system is this?
Have you always had this issue or did it occur recently?
When you say you clicked the shutdown button, do you mean the one under > Start on your desktop?

We recently had a similar question, check it out here:
