Harry Milne asks:
I downloaded Windows Live Essentials, but cannot open any of it because of missing ‘Reg’ files (wldlog.dll,,UXCore.dll), which I downloaded, but they still don’t work.

July 21, 2012Just reinstall WLE over your existing installation. It should re-register all of the necessary DLL files as well as updating anything else that needs it while retaining all of your existing preferences and settings.

July 21, 2012First make sure your system meets the requirements:
32- or 64-bit version of Windows 7, or Windows Vista with Service Pack 2…
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/windows-live-2011-system-requirements
If that is the case try the full offline installer:
http://g.live.com/1rewlive4-all/en/wlsetup-all.exe
* you can change the language by editing the “en” into the desired language ID
If you are running Windows XP you will have to get the older Windows Live Essentials 2009:

July 21, 2012try to Uninstall Windows Live Essentials, with wlmuninstaller
http://www.msn-tools.net/wlm-msn-uninstaller/
this should remove all trace of it, reboot and reinstall Windows Live Essentials
Thanks for your advice but im afraid it didnt work either,i might try and reformat my PC and reinstall Windows 7, ( but i wasnt looking forward to the hassle of doing it )
July 21, 2012try windows update and see if you have new updates, perhaps this can add files missing on your windows.
July 21, 2012Thanks again ,, downloaded 3 small unimportant updates ,, but with the same result ,, its getting very frustrating,an error msg keeps coming up when i try to open WLE(Ox8007007f)

July 22, 2012Hi,
Go to Add/Remove programs and after clicking on Windows Live Essentials you will get an option `Change` next to remove. Click on it to repair WLE installation.
If that does n `t help then download and run Revo Uninstaller. Make sure that you run it in Medium Safe mode and remove the registry entries as well. Then download Windows Live Essentials according to your OS version and re-install it.
Thanks Rahul,, for the help but sad to say none of the 2 suggestions worked,, i think i might just give up !!! thanks again ,Harry

July 29, 2012I’d suggest re-installing the program. Have you tried this?
Elijah Swartz
July 29, 2012This seems similar to the program you are describing. The two files may have been moved to a different directory by another program. Just copy them to the other need directories. http://blog.meidianto.com/2010/10/03/windows-live-essentials-2011-msnmgr-exe-error-the-program-cant-start-because-wldlog-dll-is-missing-from-your-computer-try-reinstalling-the-program-to-fix-problem/
If that didn’t work, I would suggest uninstalling WLE completely. Make sure these directories are deleted.
C:\Program Files\Windows Live
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live
They may be under Program Files (x86) if you are using a 64 bit OS.
Restart your computer. Redownload WLE, and now try reinstalling it, but in a slightly different directory (such as with a 1 added to the directory name).
Thanks for your suggestion Elijah, , im not up to doing the directory thing ,, but im trying to get a friend to try it thanks again ,,Harry
July 30, 2012Thanks to every one who tried to help with my problem ,, the salution from Elijah worked , one of my Computer savvy friends did what was suggested ,, everything is good now ,, thanks again to the community for all the help ,Harry Milne

August 27, 2012Hello, this is what I would do:
– Download and install the free version of revo uninstaller:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
– once revo is installed, open the application and look for the entry for windows live essentials. Once you find it, uninstall it and make sure to delete the entries for that program. Revo should find all the entries.
– Restart your computer and then download and install essential again.
Thanks for your help Fidelis,i have now fixed the problem , and your suggestion was one of the things that worked thanks again Harry
