Why is my Windows 7 system constantly seeking a network although I’m connected?

Out of the blue, my network tray icon either shows that I’m not connected when I am in fact connected. At other times the icon shows the little circular blue image, depicting it trying to connect. When this happens, if you click to view the action center, it only shows a blank page, almost as if something is getting hung up, but I still have a good connection. How can I get the icon to report factually?

I have a HP G72 B53 notebook with Windows 7 x 64.

I made a screen shot with PSR, but I’m not sure how to include it with my question.
