June 22, 2012No, some people will argue that Foxit will use less RAM than Adobe Reader X, which will result in longer battery time. but the difference between the RAM usage will be close to 20 MB which can not increase your battery life.
so it is a myth that such less RAM taking software will increase your battery performance. as RAM is always turned on, it is never turned off.
Thanks everyone. Unanimous advice not to bother changing over to Foxit.
June 22, 2012Yeah true, unless you overlock your ram or stressing it out
Just use foxit if you got a slower laptop or system. since Adobe Reader takes some time to load

June 22, 2012As far as I know battery life increases with the reader that has less crashes.

June 22, 2012Foxit is less intense on system resources than Adobe Reader X but not in a way that extends battery life. So, no you will not get extended battery life by using Foxit instead of Adobe Reader X.

June 22, 2012The only way it would increase your battery usage time is if you read thousands of close and open the reader. But that would only increase battery usage time by only a few seconds at most, not significant enough to really bother. It is more of the quicker load times that would be a difference on a usability standpoint, especially in lower end computers, but not battery life. I have an Acer AO722 that I can range from 3 hours battery life to 12 hours depending on my settings, including underclocking the processor.

June 22, 2012Hello, as to whether foxit will improve battery life I do not know. Of one thing I am pretty sure though….foxit will definitely use less resources than adobe and cause less issues.

June 25, 2012While the Ram usage will have very little effect on your batter life most modern laptop employ processor scaling to conserve power (ie slow down your processor when your not using it) so a highly efficient program can allow the the CPU to clock at a lower speed and therefor improve battery life. if Foxit is such a well written over the Adobe Reader I personally note sure never read the source code for both. I prefer Foxit due to its performance on my system.

June 26, 2012This may be slightly off topic, but anyway; A significant part of the power goes to the screen, and the brighter the color, the more power. A nice feature in Foxit Reader is the ability to invert the colors, i.e. white text on black background. I haven’t used Adobe Reader for years, so I’m not sure if there’s a similar option there. I often find this more easy on the eyes as well when reading longer documents.
