Why is Firefox 13 progressively slowing down when using it?

KamilKozyra asks:

My Firefox 13 seems to lag/slow down when typing or switching tabs. I never had this problem in 12. I have to close Firefox, then open it back up, and it seems normal. My PC is clean of viruses, etc. Any ideas? Anybody else experiencing the same?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be plugins that cause the problem, “Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins” in case there are still problems.

Transferring data to a new profile – Firefox

you can also do reset preference before making new profile and see if this can help

Firefox have introduced SPDY protocol support so you might try disabling it to get back good performance.

type about:config in address bar, search network.http.spdy.enabled and make it to false by double-clicking it.

Try removing addons or clearing cache and cookies. The need to do the latter so often is why I switched to Chrome.

Start Firefox in ‘safe’ mode by pressing the Shift key then clicking on Firefox. Run Firefox in safe mode as you would normally opening tabs etc. If there is no loss of speed then look at the addons (if any) you have installed.

Remove unwanted extensions, clear internet cache, and then give it a try. I Still find firefox really slow compared to chrome :)

you could try using the reset feature to see if the reason is your addons/extensions

Well I thought starting it in safe mode which effectivly is starting without any addons was what I said, but maybe not………

Use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove Firefox and do a fresh install again.I had this same problem but now its okay.Almost every Firefox user has lagging issues so its not strange with the problem you just encountered. Also delete your Firefox Profile and reinstall Firefox.

firefox is getting slower and slower with each version, so the best thing to do is to move away from ff… if you don’t care about google spying to chrome or to ie (which is as good as other browsers) or opera…. if you really want ff, try waterfox – and try to avoid as much as possible plug-ins

FYI, I don’t think Ghostery was the culprit.

KamilKozyra

I think it’s Flasblock.
