Teara asks:
I downloaded 7zip and now when I try to open a program the “Open with…” dialog pops up for everything. I dont know what to do, nothing is opening – I just need to know how to get everything back to normal.
I uninstalled 7zip but now the apps look like a sheet of paper with a pop up on it. I think thats how to describe how it looks. Please help me!

June 27, 2012iyou can try to use windows restore point to revert back to earlier state just before installing 7zip.
go to run and type rstrui.exe then launch it and follow the wizard.
you have file association problems. download the files and extract then click on the reg files.

if you cant extract on your pc then try on another pc then copy the reg files to usb key and transfer on your desktop.
thanks that worked

June 27, 2012Either system restore or in the open with dialog tick always use this option.
So you’ll have to open atleast one file of a type to associate all others.
Eg. open an mp3, select always open with Foobar, Winamp or whatever, and all your mp3′s on the PC will open with it always.

June 27, 2012You lost the association between zip files and your preferred unzip application. For Windows XP, go to My Computer, Explore, Tools, Folder Options, File Types.
In there you can either add ZIP new or if it’s there click on it and click the “Change” button to put it back to your preferred unzip application.
Hope that helps!

June 28, 2012Hello, this happened because when you installed 7zip you left the options checkmarked to make 7zip the default application for all files. After you uninstalled the program, all these apps lost their default program to open them. You just have to chance the programs/apps that open those programs.
