Why does nothing happen when I close the lid of my laptop?

Reý Aetar asks:

Everything was working fine until now I noticed that the display doesn’t turn off when I close the lid. My computer should hibernate as soon as I close the lid.

The monitor also doesn’t turn off when the lid is closed. What could be the problem??

Have you checked the power settings in windows?
control panel>Hardware and Sound >Power Options : Choose what closing the lid does (it should be on the left side menu).

Check the left hand side of the window when you click the battery icon in the bottom left, “More Power Options”

It hibernates it or puts it to sleep. It won’t do anything. It just slowly uses your battery though so keep it charging.
