Clair Baird asks:
I had Cat 6 installed and to check if it was working I turned Airport off. When I wanted to turn Airport back on I can’t as when I click on Airport it says no Airport card installed.

May 29, 2012Is the card only missing within the “System Preferences > Network” or is it also missing within the System Profiler? (Applications\Utilities).
Try creating a new location:
1. open System Preferences > Network
2. click the Location drop down menu and select edit
3. create a new location
Try re-detecting the network interfaces:
1. open up Terminal (Application\Utilities)
2. type “/usr/sbin/networksetup -detectnewhardware” and hit enter
Try a PRAM reset:
1. reboot your Mac
2. before the Apple logo with the gray background appears:
press and hold “cmd ⌘ + alt ⌥ + P + R” until you heard the gong 3 times
3. let go of the keys and start up normally
If none of these help it could be a hardware issue. The AirPort card could be damaged or not properly connection.
Without knowing the model and version (e.g. MacBookPro late 2011) the only advice I can give you is visiting an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
The PRAM fix worked for me too. I’m not sure but I may have precipitated the crash (Airport fail) by cleaning the keyboard with a ‘safe’ cleaner! (Using my PC for this!)
