Why does Google Location History show that I was at locations I didn’t visit?

I didn’t leave home on Sunday except one, and my spouse was with me. But when I look at our Google location history it shows one of us left home and was several miles away at various locations. Yet didn’t leave any other time all day. Why would it show that one of us wasn’t home and one of us was?

Locations are mostly looked up via the public (internet) IP address. On occasion those IP Address blocks 'change hands' and end up at another providers/registrar in a different country or even continent.
