alishahamm asks:
How can I get my laptop to recognize my optical drive? The hp website does not support this particular driver for some reason and it’s OEM. I have tried the removing of filters, lightscribe website, etc and am still unable to access or recognize it.
It does work, the light blinks and you can hear the drive attempt to run, but still no luck. I have also tried another drive, which did the exact same. It’s a HP DV9917, any tips?

November 15, 2012Vista = compatibility issues, I would suggest that you right click most programs and set them to run in compatibility mode for xp as well.

November 15, 2012search google for the driver and just download any driver you can find for it – even if it isn’t on the hp website. I am currently using an hp machine, with the Lenovo display drivers, because there weren’t any on the hp website, but it works absolutely fine.
Good advice especially because HP can’t help. Just make sure you set a restore point in case the driver you install from other manufacturer mess up all your other hardware.
